10 gain management diploma

Ten Mecrus employees completed Diploma of Management courses during 2009. Mecrus offers training opportunities to staff to gain a recognised qualification for personal and professional development.

“The courses also help them to better understand the various aspects of running a business,” said Managing Director, Barry Richards.

Kathy Matheas (PA to Managing Director), Frank Nogare (Team Leader at Cobram Steam Plant), Keith James (Operator at Cobram Steam Plant), and Daryl Doncon (Operator at Cobram Steam Plant) did their course at Swinburne University of Technology, while the remainder did their course at Gippsland TAFE in Newborough where the course included completion of a nominated project.

The Gippsland course participants and their projects were Brett Cornish (OHSE Offi cer at ABPF) – Establishment of new enclosed oil storage facility at ABPF; Rod Middlemiss (Morwell Operator Maintainer) – In house transporting of briquettes by Mecrus; Rob Smyth (Morwell Operator Maintainer) – Optimisation of the Extec through screening of Char; Gavin Hammond (Morwell Operator Maintainer) – Purchase of Interactive Whiteboard for Nilma Primary School; Greig Williams (Morwell Operator Maintainer) – Development of new Mecrus Company Induction; and Joe Clapton (Operator at Leongatha Steam Plant) – Optimisation of double boiler outages for Steam Plants.
